Task mining overview

Task mining collects and analyzes users' interaction data to uncover task-specific workflows and patterns. It extends process mining from high-level business processes to detailed user actions, helping organizations understand task execution and improve efficiency.
Desktop capture tools typically collect interactions such as keyboard input, mouse clicks, and application action logs. After cleaning, organizing, and modeling the data, natural language processing (NLP) and automation technologies identify execution patterns, bottlenecks, redundancy, and errors.
